Important Message from Gail Rose

DSCF2001Attention Talmud Torah First through Fifth Grade Parents

December 19th is our Erev Shabbat Hanukkah Party. This fun filled musical evening will feature the Shabband and the Talmud Torah Sunday School's first through fifth grade students. The first and second grade students will sing Dreidls of Hanukkah and S'Vivon and the third, fourth and fifth graders will perform Neis Gadol and Light One Candle.

The first and second graders will sit with their parents and third through fifth graders will sit in designated seats towards the back of the Temple. Please arrive ten minutes early so we will be in our places and ready to begin by 6:15. There will be a Hanukkah dinner and party immediately following the service. If you care to stay for the dinner and party there will be a cost of $5.00 per person or $20.00 per family. RSVP for the dinner/party at: rsvp@TBSohio.org. The entire community is cordially invited to join in this joyous event.

L'Shalom,

Here are some of the Highlights from the morning:

DSCF2034

  • As always, go to www.tbsohiokt.com to see pictures from Sunday!

  • All classes celebrated Chanukah in their own way! Students should have come home with a box of Chanukah candles, a dreidel and gelt (if it made it all the way home). If your student wasn’t here on Sunday, feel free to come to Temple to pick up a FREE Chanukah package from the Religious School.

  • We had our last day of Hebrew for the semester. On January 11th, Ramah 7 will be split into two classes to make sure the kids are getting enough one on one attention from the teachers.

  • The 3rd – 7th grade students participated in the Great Dreidel Competition of 2008. Congratulations to Jack Kauffman for taking the prize and winning the competition!

Important Announcements:

  • Again, January 11th is our first day back after break.

  • K-2 families hopefully received an email telling them that we are SWITCHING THE TIME OF SERVICES FOR K-2. Services will be at the BEGINNING of the morning every Sunday, except the 1st Sunday of each month. Students and their parents will check in with a madrich in their classrooms, drop off jackets, and then head upstairs for the K-2 service. The service will last from 9:10 – 9:30.

  • Club 56, our 5th and 6th grade youth group will be having another event on Saturday, January 17th. We will have our “Undernight” (not an overnight) at the Temple. We’ll have dinner, do a huge scavenger hunt, watch a movie and do lots more fun stuff. Watch the mail for a flyer soon!

  • On Sunday, January 18th, JuBeSTY (7th and 8th graders) will have a sled-a-thon program (assuming there is snow). Watch the mail for details!

  • We hope to see EVERYONE on Friday for our Chanukah Extravaganza at 6:15. See you there!

Have a Happy Chanukah and New Year!

L’Shalom,

Rabbi Benjy
