Program Highlights:

The Kindergarten class read and learned about the story of Chanukah. They also read the book Mrs. Greenberg's Messy Hanukkah, and watched the movie Chanukah and the Missing Menorah. What a fun morning!
The 1st grade class learned all about the story of Chanukah including a story about the Maccabees reclaiming the Temple as their own. They also made Chanukah decorations in the shape of Jewish stars.
The 2nd grade class read the Chanukah story and listened to Chanukah-themed music, including the Maccabeats! They even made their own chanukiyot (Chanukah menorahs)! It was a fun and festive morning in our class!
The 3rd grade class talked about the two miracles of Chanukah and played the "To the Temple" board game to learn about the story of Chanukah. They played dreidel and took home a Chanukah-themed word search.
The 4th grade class listened to Chanukah music by the Maccabeats. They played Jewish Bingo (Jewgo!) with Chanukah-themed boards. In Hebrew class, they had a classroom challenge to refresh and to review all that they have learned since the beginning of the year.
The 5th grade class celebrated the story of Chanukah by learning about all the traditions surrounding the holiday. They even got to eat sufganiot (doughnuts) and tell the story of Chanukah.
The 6th grade class talked about the importance of family and how every family has its own special values. They talked about the importance of Jewish values in families. Also, they discussed the notion of sacrifice, and they thought about what things are important enough that they would give something up for them. In Hebrew class, they reviewed the version of the Sh'ma that is recited during the Torah service and talked about other variations of it. They also discussed the Chanukah story and what some of the Hebrew words associated with Chanukah mean.
The Modern Hebrew class went over chapter six and are learning lots of new vocabulary words. They then played a matching game.
