Shalom Religious School Parents!
Message from Rabbi Benjy Bar-Lev, Director of Education
Hello Religious School Parents,
Shalom! I hope you are all doing well. We had an exciting day at Religious School! Check out the highlights below!
IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO ALL K-2 PARENTS:
Starting THIS Sunday, PARENTS MUST PICK UP THEIR CHILDREN FROM THEIR CLASSROOMS at 11:00 a.m. We need all Kindergarten – 2nd Grade parents to “check-out” with your child’s teacher at the end of the morning. Please don’t ask your children to meet you at the door or in the parking lot. We feel this is the safest way to dismiss our youngest students and hope that it will give parents a chance to communicate with the teachers at the end of the morning. Thanks!
Here are some of the Highlights from the morning:

As always, see PICTURES from this morning! www.tbsohiokt.com
The Kindergarten class learned about being made in God’s image and made life-sized cutouts of themselves that are hanging around the classroom. Check out the paper version of your child next time you’re in the building!
- The first graders learned about mezuzot and made their own colorful mezuzot.
- The Hebrew program had 4 people pass into new Ramah levels! Prizes for moving up to the next Ramah are on their way!
- Music classes started learning about Noah and his arky arky.
- 7th graders got a taste of High School as they joined the Jewish Meditation class for the morning.
8th graders asked some tough questions of each other. They named the 5 things that are most important to them, and then talked about which of those they would sacrifice if they had to sacrifice one. An interesting discussion followed!
- Hannah Montanaberg was back this month for another ridiculous all-school shtick. The Jewish value for the month of November is “Sh-mee-rat Ha-Goof” which means “taking care of our bodies.” Ask your child about our Rocky-like shtick this morning!
Important Announcements:
Please remember to send Tzedakah (charity) money with your child each Sunday. The classes are working this month to collect money for the Helping Hands Free Clinic in Columbus. Each month the Tzedakah money goes to a charity that is linked to our Jewish value of the month.
- We are in the beginning stages of planning a one-night Religious School Family Retreat at Deer Creek State Park (about 20 mins outside of Columbus) to take place in April. We would like to have some ball-park estimate of how many people might participate in this kind of exciting program. The retreat would have family programming, separate programming for adults and kids, social programming, and lots of time to play games, swim, hike and do all kinds of fun activities. If you think your family may participate in the program, please click here and send me a brief (can be 2 words) email indicating that! rabbibenjy@tbsohio.org
Wednesday Hebrew this week from 4:00 – 6:30. Join us!
- On Saturday, November 8th, BeSTY will be going to the Blue Jackets Game!
- On Sunday, November 9th, JuBeSTY, the 7th / 8th Youth Group will be going to play Laser Tag after school. You should have received a purple flyer in the mail. We need parent drivers!
- On Sunday, November 16th, Club 56, the 5th/6th Youth Group will also be going to play Laser Tag and roller skate after school. Please RSVP to rabbibenjy@tbsohio.org. We need parent drivers!
- We would love for you to come and hang out at Religious School some morning. We have great coffee, fast WiFi, interesting newspapers and scintillating conversations!
That's it from here. Have a great week.
L’Shalom,
Rabbi Benjy
