Shalom Religious School Parents!
Message from Rabbi Benjy Bar-Lev, Director of Education
Shalom Religious School Families,
Wow! This has been quite the Purim celebration! I hope that you were able to join us for one of the Purim events at Temple this weekend.
On Friday night we had a Purim themed First Friday service and dinner that featured a story about Esther, a kiddie pool in the Sanctuary, and a selection of entertaining voices by Rabbi Apothaker.
Saturday evening we had a Purim Lock-in for our 7th – 12th graders. Twenty-five kids joined us for an action packed night of Purim carnival set up, Havdalah, and some good relaxation time at the Temple. As you can imagine, losing an hour of sleep time was hardly ideal!
Sunday morning, the 3rd-6th Graders had their regular Mitkadem classes, enhanced by Purim games and general silliness resulting from costumes at Religious School. The Kindergarten – 2nd Grade had an exciting morning of Purim rotations. They started the morning hearing a Purim story, then some of them made Hamentashen, some of them went to a Purim arts and crafts station and others of them went to a singing and dancing station. The kids rotated through all of the stations and had a great time doing it!
At 11:00 a.m. the Purim Carnival began! Thank you to all the High School and 7th and 8th grade students who worked so hard to make this year’s Purim carnival memorable for the younger students. From Mordechai’s Moonbounce to the great face-painting to the exciting raffle, it was a great time for all.
A special thank you to the parent volunteers who helped prepare and serve food. During this week we will attempt to compile a complete list of names and would like to publicly thank these parents in next week’s newsletter.
The last big Purim celebration of the year came on Monday evening with a very entertaining purimspiel with the theme of Beauty and the Beast. Director Gail Rose whipped the cast into shape – they sang, danced and acted like pros! It was a lot of fun!
As always, please see pictures from this morning at www.tbsohiokt.com!
Also, I am missing a red digital camera that we use to take pictures on Sunday morning. If anyone spots it, I would love to have it back!
