The Purim fun continues with the Purim Extravaganza Megillah reading and Purimspiel! Come and see the Purim version of Beauty and the Beast on Monday, March 9th at 7:00 p.m. It’ll be a great time!

Here are some of the Highlights from the morning:

P3010165

  • As always, please see pictures from this morning at www.tbsohiokt.com!

  • P3010156We had a great Hannah Montanaberg Schtick this month introducing the Jewish value of Ahavat HaBriyot – loving all of God’s creatures. We discussed the importance of loving all people, even if they look and act different than we do. Ahavat HaBriyot even covers loving animals as well!

  • The Kindergarten class continued with their Purim study by reading stories, doing an art project and playing Purim games.

  • The 1st Grade class read a story about Purim and learned about Mishloach Manot – the tradition of giving gifts to those in need during Purim.

  • The 2nd Grade class had a Purim fun day as well. They read the story “Queen Esther the Morning Star.” Then, the students played a quiz game about Purim.

  • The 3rd Grade class spent the morning in the kitchen making homentaschen!

  • The 4th Grade class read the story “Queen Esther Saves her People.” They then made groggers out of paper plates and beans to use at the Purim Spiel on Monday night.

  • P3010137The 5th Grade class continued working on three plays based on life in the shtettle (the wise men of Helm) where Jews learned to laugh in the face of adversity.

  • The 6th Grade class continued learning about world health and social issues such as world hunger, peace and war, protecting animals and recycling. They talked about why these are Jewish issues and what they can do to help repair the world.

  • The 7th Grade class helped the High School classes prepare for next week’s Purim carnival by making signs and preparing games for the younger children.

High School

  • The Green Class discussed the idea of “greenwashing” and how society seems to be blinded by it.

  • The Purim Class, Cooking Class and the Jews of South Park class helped prepare for next week’s Purim carnival. They are excited to run a great carnival for the younger students!
